We are creatures of habit (have we mentioned this before? Probably) We eat at the same five restaurants on rotation. They’re all within a 45 minute drive. One of the five chosen ones is Kiraku in Berkeley. It’s a what you see is what you get sort of restaurant and dining experience. There’s no pretense to the place. The tables are super close to one another, it’s loud, it’s always crowded, the Asahi is ice cold, and the food hits, every. single. time. We order the same dishes, at the same pace, with the same course of bev pairings…

Asahis, sashimi plate, a couple pieces of nigiri, a bottle of sake, 1 special, fried chicken cartilage, grilled beef tongue over cabbage, yaki udon, a scoop of grapefruit yogurt ice cream.
